Project Hello
Project Hello
An art initiative started by my friend Chad Rea, Project Hello aimed to build awareness and compassion for the homeless community. The insight: many people living on the streets hadn’t heard their own name spoken in well over a year. The request: engage with someone who could use a little acknowledgement, have them proudly claim their name and take their portrait. The result: more than 3,500 signs distributed throughout 32 countries, a comprehensive website with over 700 photographs, 15 national PSAs, a traveling photo exhibition, worldwide media coverage in over 50 publications, and the Dove Award–the highest accord for socially responsible advertising from the Advertising Community Together.
To contribute to the cause, I spent a day with a few of my DTLA neighbors including Ricky and Cecil.
